40th Anniversary of the Finnish Hockey Federation

The Finnish Hockey Association is an umbrella organisation for field hockey in Finland, founded in 1982. The mission of the association is to promote, supervise and direct the activities of field hockey and its various species in Finland. It is a member of the International Field Hockey Federation (FIH), the European Hockey Federation (EHF) and the Finnish Olympic Committee.
Field hockey first arrived in Finland in 1914 with Erik von Frenckell. The sport was initially popular among women, but the Civil War and subsequent years interrupted the practice. In 1946, the sport began tuning again, and Finland's first field hockey club, Nuijamies, was founded in 1949.

The Finnish Hockey Association was established to replace the Field Hockey Association, which was in financial difficulties. In 1983, the women's championship was played for the first time, and in 1990, the first indoor hockey championships were held.
